WHAT I WOULD DO IF I HAD TO START MY BUSINESS AGAIN IN 2026
IN BUSINESS - DBW
If I had to start from zero today—no audience, no brand, no results—just what I know now… I would do things very differently.
Not in a “perfect strategy” way. More in a I wouldn’t waste time on things that don’t actually move you forward kind of way.
Because the truth is, when you’re starting, it’s not lack of information that slows you down. It’s doing too many things, doubting everything, and not knowing what actually matters.
So if I had to do it all again in 2026, this is exactly how I would approach it.
IN BUSINESS
I WOULD GET VERY CLEAR ON MY WHY — AND EVEN CLEARER ON WHAT I’M SELLING
Not a vague “I want freedom” or “I want to make money online.”
That’s not enough when things get hard (and they will).
I’d sit down and actually ask myself:
- What do I want my life to look like in a year?
- What am I trying to change about my current situation?
- What kind of work do I actually want to be doing daily?
Because if your “why” isn’t clear, you’ll switch direction the second something feels hard or slow.
And then—the part most people skip—I’d choose one offer.
Not three ideas. Not “I’ll try this and see.”
One.
Something simple that solves a real problem for a specific type of person.
Because trying to build multiple things at once doesn’t make you move faster—it just splits your focus and keeps everything half-built.
And I know this because I’ve done it. It feels productive, but nothing really moves.
IN BUSINESS
I WOULD STOP OVERTHINKING AND START BEFORE I FEEL READY
This is probably the biggest one.
If I’m honest, a lot of the time I thought I was “working on my business”… I was actually just delaying starting properly.
- Tweaking ideas
- Researching more
- Watching how others do it
- Telling myself “I just need a bit more clarity”
But clarity doesn’t come from thinking. It comes from doing.
So if I started again, I’d move much faster.
Not reckless—but I wouldn’t sit in that phase of almost starting for weeks (or months).
I’d launch imperfectly.
I’d post before I feel fully confident.
I’d figure things out as I go.
Because waiting until you feel ready is one of the easiest ways to stay stuck without realizing it.
IN BUSINESS
I WOULD BUILD A SIMPLE FOUNDATION — NOT A PERFECT ONE
In 2026, everything starts online, yes—but that doesn’t mean everything has to be perfect from day one.
Before, I would have overcomplicated this part:
- The branding
- The website
- The systems
- The “making everything look right”
Now? I’d keep it simple. I’d set up:
- A clear page (even if it’s basic)
- A way to sell
- A way to stay in touch with people (email, community, etc.)
That’s it.
Because your business doesn’t grow from having everything set up perfectly.
It grows from people actually seeing what you’re doing and engaging with it.
You can refine everything later.
But you can’t refine something that hasn’t started.
IN BUSINESS
I WOULD FOCUS WAY MORE ON CONSISTENCY THAN STRATEGY
This is something no one wants to hear at the beginning.
You think the key is:
- The right niche
- The right content style
- The perfect strategy
But most of the time, the difference is just this:
Someone kept going long enough… and someone else didn’t.
If I started again, I wouldn’t jump from one approach to another every time something doesn’t immediately work.
I’d pick a direction—and stay with it longer than feels comfortable.
Even when:
- Engagement is low
- Results are slow
- Doubt starts creeping in
Because that’s the phase where most people stop.
And it’s usually right before things start to shift.
IN BUSINESS
I WOULD PAY MORE ATTENTION TO PEOPLE — NOT JUST CONTENT
At the start, it’s easy to focus only on posting, growing, doing more.
But what actually builds a business is connection.
If I started again, I’d spend more time:
- Reading comments properly
- Replying in a real way
- Understanding what people are actually struggling with
- Noticing what they react to (not just what performs well)
Because your audience will tell you everything you need to know — what they need, what they want, what they’d pay for.
Most people just don’t slow down enough to listen.
IN BUSINESS
I WOULD TEST MORE — AND TAKE IT LESS PERSONALLY
This one took time to learn.
Not everything you try will work.
Not every idea will land.
Not every post will perform.
And that’s normal.
If I started again, I wouldn’t overanalyse every small result or make it mean something about me.
I’d treat everything as data:
- This worked → do more of it
- This didn’t → adjust and try again
That’s it.
Because the more you attach your confidence to every outcome, the harder it becomes to stay consistent.
IN BUSINESS
IF I COULD SUM IT ALL UP, IT WOULD BE THIS
I wouldn’t try to do everything.
I wouldn’t wait to feel ready.
I wouldn’t expect fast results.
I’d keep it simple, move faster, and stay consistent longer.
That’s it.
Because most of the time, it’s not about doing something completely different.
It’s about doing the right things… for long enough to actually see them work.
IT’S YOUR TURN ↓
NOW LET’S ACTUALLY DO SOMETHING WITH THIS
Take a few minutes and actually think about this. Not in a vague way—be honest with yourself.
1. WHAT ARE YOU OVERCOMPLICATING RIGHT NOW?
Where are you adding more steps, more ideas, more “thinking” instead of just moving?
2. WHAT HAVEN’T YOU STARTED YET (BUT YOU KEEP THINKING ABOUT)?
Be honest. What’s that thing you keep delaying because it’s not “ready”?
3. IF YOU HAD TO SIMPLIFY EVERYTHING, WHAT WOULD YOU FOCUS ON?
One offer. One direction. One next step.
4. WHERE ARE YOU BEING INCONSISTENT?
Not judging—just noticing. What would consistency actually look like for you?
5. WHAT’S ONE THING YOU’RE GOING TO DO TODAY?
Not plan. Not think about. Do.
Make it small, but real.
-
You don’t need a new strategy.
You probably don’t need more information either.
You just need to move on what you already know.
And once you do, things start to change a lot faster than you expect.
